Game Review

Every Legend has its beginning.

The Legend of Zelda is the game that started the well known and famous “The Legend of Zelda” saga, It was launched in the year of 1986 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) it became a best seller, selling over 6.5 million copies, And it’s another remarkable work and one of the greatest games of all the time made by Nintendo’s most creative and productive master mind: Shigeru Miyamoto.

When the game was launched it became a complete revolution for all the games industry. A complex game in which you could use many objects and weapons, a huge world to explore with secrets and chiefly a game in which you are able to save your progress, something that was almost utopian those days.

In this game is when our everlasting Hero, Link is presented for the very first time and portrayed in a very peculiar way with his green clothes and his quirky but fabulous green hat, our everlasting Princess Zelda (Whose name is also given to the Game making a notoriety of the character) makes her first appearance too, and of course the main Villain Gannon (Ganondorf lately) The Triforce is also first time mentioned here same as the land of Hyrule.

Story

The Game’s plot story is somewhat quite different than the other games those years.
The story tells about an Evil King from a dark world called Ganon (in the game he is referred as “Gannon” the Prince of Darkness) who invaded the land of Hyrule, in search of the legendary Triforce, three golden triangles endowed with godly powers. The evil Ganon stole the Triforce of Power and imprisoned Hyrule’s Princess, Zelda. Before being captured, Princess Zelda Managed to shatter the Triforce of Wisdom and divide it into eight pieces, hiding them from the Prince of Darkness.

It is Link’s duty to find those eight fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom, save princess Zelda, defeat the evil Ganon and impede his evil plans.

Technicalities

Do not underestimate this game’s graphics, keep in mind that the game has over 20 years since its inception, if we consider the time, graphics were very good, it is full of color and trying to use the limited palette of the NES. The main character, Link, was quite detailed too and so were the other characters.

The sound is another thing that shouldn’t be underestimated, or judged comparing it with today’s games. In this game is where The Legend of Zelda’s theme song is presented for the very first time, some other melodies appearing in this game are subsequently added to other Zelda games.

Gameplay

In the game you must move through the dungeons and get together the Triforce, and finally defeat Ganon and give him what he deserves. In the game you won’t find towns or cities, although you will find stores in your walking trough the fields, everything here is focused in dungeons and exploration. It is important to explore the outside world because you may find additional and helpful stuff, such as secret areas where you can find objects or healing fairies. You must use your logic, you will find many puzzle games where you will have to use your brain.

After beating the game the player is able to play a second quest with stronger enemies and more difficult dungeons, it is also possible to start straight away the second quest by entering the name of “Zelda” as the player’s name.
