Fixing Fun Fun Island – Skyward Sword
In Skyward Sword there is a fun mini-game in which Link is able to sky dive and collect Rupees to win prizes. At the end of the dive Link must aim himself to land on a colorful spinning platform. By going through more rings and landing on an ideal color, Link is able to increase his prize amount.
However, before Link is able to play this game he must fix Fun Fun Island by following our Fixing Fun Fun Island guide.
Fixing Fun Fun Island
If you talk to the owner of the island he will tell you that a piece of the island, the Party Wheel, has fallen off and crashed somewhere down on the surface. Fi will set your dowsing ability with the option of locating the wheel.
To save you the hassle of dowsing for the wheel I will just go ahead and tell you that it is located in the Lanayru Desert near the Bird Statue furthest south. There will be a nearby Timeshift Stone which can be activated.

Doing so will make vines appear which Link can climb on to head east. Eventually you should see the wheel partially covered by sand. Drop down and your robot will appear and take it to the owner up on Fun Fun Island.
You will be rewarded with 5 Gratitude Crystals.
I keep talking to the owner but nothing happens
Fi doesn't set my dowsing and when I go to the place where the wheel is nothing happen
***Spoilers alert***
I think you have to beat the Lanayru dessert again (get the flame) before you can set your dowsing ability for other objects.
Just did it right after getting the second song.
You have to go and get the second song from the Isle Of Songs, After retriving the first flame. Then go to the Fun Fun Island and the guy will have the little bubble with dots over his head talk to him and then Fi will set your dowings ability on.
Talk to him (FUN FUN GUY) right after the Isle of songs as in as soon as you leave I did and it worked
you can do it before you even get the first song from feron woods. I've been doing it for a while now & havn't even went & talked to the sleeping kiwiki or however its spelled. You just have to complete the rest of the side quests for helping people before you can do it and reach the top of the tree where it's sleeping and have collected a certain amount of goddess cubes) – I'm basing this off of what I have accomplished in my game at the current time mind you. At any rate it defiantly must be done after you fix the robot at the scrap shop & visit the isle of songs for the first time. when you go back( to fun fun island at this point he should be depressed. tell him to look for it and then from there fi should add the dowsing option & from there u can play. Both the author and Rubius are wrong with part of their message here. I'm just at this part and, starting with the only part that's wrong on the author's part, the stone to teleport to is the SECOND furthest to the south (there will be a big gap between the furthest, which is Lanrayu (sp?) mine, and the one you want to teleport to, which is called 'Desert Entrance'). After that, as you mentioned, it's up the vines you 'summon' there through hitting the time stone, shimmy across a ridge, and you're there.
The reason I'm picking on two people (I'm not a mean person I swear!), is that I restarted to the end of my mission before talking to the Fun Fun Island guy again (I've talked to the Fun Fun Island guy 5 times to this point in the game, and everytime he displays the same message – 'I hope you like Fun and Colors, I'm just setting up, blah blah blah'). I got to the wheel, and NOTHING. Can't grab it. So I went back up to Fun Island and sure enough, he's missing his favorite wheel (turns out you really CAN'T start this before finishing up the Desert Trial), so I'm heading back now to grab the wheel instead of just gawking at it haha.
Other than those two points, I just wanted to say I love this site – keep up the good work!!!!!
I only did Thunderhead tower then went to Fun Fun island and he told me his party wheel was below the clouds and Fi set it as a dowsing option and it already said it was in Lanayru
Ok, I've almost beat the entire game and I'm going around trying to finish all of my little side missions. So, I beat the Desert level literally a month ago or so, I've done everything on the game except go fight Demise and it won't say examine above the wheel. I just talked to the Fun Fun Island guy again. My dowsing doesn't work on the item either. I think this is kind of a glitch because I should definitely be able to pick it up. The only thing I'm thinking is I also had been trying to get the beetle for Beedle before I started this mission? It may want me to finish that first.
I figured out my problem, I can't respond with ugh… when he says I lost my wheel, I have to say "What's wrong"

I have a problem, I didnt save when I got out of the mining facility, so I cant get to the Pin Wheel, I tried to use the little wheel monsters to get me up there but that wont work either. Any Suggestions?
Your going to have to do it over. In These types of games you MUST save after everything important LITERALLY.
