Skyward Sword Items and Equipment

The Skyward Sword: Assumed to be Link’s primary weapon upon obtaining it in Skyloft, it has many new powers compared to previous swords used in the series. It will be used as Link’s key to travel between Skyloft and Hyrule. When held up towards the heavens it will be charged up allowing it to shoot beams forward.

The Master Sword: Having made an appearance in most games in the franchise, Skyward Sword finally reveals the origins of the Blade of Evil’s Bane. It has been revealed that the Skyward Sword is transformed or is used to forge the Master Sword later on in the game. Typically it is used for defeating Ganon or Ganondorf, and has been used previously to travel in time.

Shield: Link’s shield will be controlled using the nunchuck attachment for the Wii-mote. Used to defend Link from sword blows and projectiles it will be an important role in combat.  It has been shown to repel projectiles back at the attacker by flicking the nunchuck at the moment of contact.

Bombs: Just like the other iterations in the series, they are used to blow up cracked walls or holes. In Skyward Sword they have been shown to be able to be rolled through holes in walls to blow up things on the other side.

Slingshot: Using the Wii-mote to aim, you simply take aim and fire away.

Bow and Arrow: Just like the slingshot, it is aimed using the slingshot. The controls will be as they were in Link’s Cross Bow Adventure.

Beetle: Not all the details have been released on this item yet, but it has been shown to fly around allowing Link to grab onto items far away and fly them back to him.

Hookshot: Controlled as it was in Twilight Princess, the hookshot will be used for grappling over to distant ledges, attacking enemies and reaching new areas.

Whip: Using the wii-mote to swing it, Link uses the whip to stun larger enemies leaving them vulnerable to attacks, while being strong enough to hurt weaker enemies. It can also be effective for clearing large areas of grass in a search for rupees and hearts and bringing them back towards you.

Red Potion: As usual it can be drank to restore Link’s hearts.

Bottle: The bottles are used for storing the red potion among other things. Traditionally it has held potions, fairies, soup and even a Deku Princess.
